How Long Will Mahadik Remain Silent?
सांगली आणि कोल्हापूरच्या राजकारणात महाडिक घराण्याचे नाव गेली अनेक दशके प्रभाव, नेतृत्व आणि जनसंपर्क यांचे प्रतीक म्हणून घेतले जाते. सहकार क्षेत्रातील मजबूत पकड, संघटन कौशल्य आणि कार्यकर्त्यांशी असलेली घट्ट नाळ यामुळे महाडिक घराण्याने राजकीय क्षेत्रात स्वतःचे वेगळे स्थान निर्माण केले आहे. मात्र एवढ्या मोठ्या राजकीय वारशानंतरही एक प्रश्न कायम चर्चेत राहिला आहे — महाडिकांच्या नशिबात आमदारकी आहे की नाही?
स्वर्गीय नानासाहेब महाडिक यांनी आयुष्यभर जनतेची सेवा करत लोकांचा विश्वास संपादन केला. त्यांच्या कार्यामुळे महाडिक घराण्याला समाजात आणि राजकारणात विशेष स्थान प्राप्त झाले. त्यानंतरच्या पिढीनेही विविध क्षेत्रांत काम करत जनाधार कायम ठेवला. मात्र विधानसभा निवडणुकांच्या बाबतीत महाडिक घराण्याच्या वाट्याला वारंवार प्रतीक्षा, अपेक्षा आणि राजकीय हुलकावण्या आल्याचे चित्र दिसते.
प्रत्येक निवडणुकीच्या आधी महाडिकांचे नाव चर्चेत येते. कार्यकर्त्यांमध्ये उत्साह संचारतो. संभाव्य उमेदवारीबाबत चर्चा रंगते. स्थानिक पातळीपासून राज्य पातळीपर्यंत राजकीय समीकरणे तपासली जातात. पण शेवटच्या टप्प्यात परिस्थिती बदलते आणि अपेक्षित संधी हुकते. त्यामुळे कार्यकर्त्यांच्या मनात नाराजीसोबतच प्रश्नही निर्माण होतो की, अखेर महाडिकांना विधानसभा पातळीवर संधी मिळणार कधी?
राजकारणात अनेकदा असे म्हटले जाते की, “काळ येतो पण वेळ येत नाही.” महाडिक घराण्याच्या राजकीय प्रवासाकडे पाहिल्यास ही म्हण अगदी समर्पक वाटते. कारण अनेक वेळा परिस्थिती अनुकूल असतानाही अंतिम निर्णयांच्या वेळी राजकीय समीकरणे बदलल्याचे दिसून आले आहे.
विशेषतः २०१९ ची विधानसभा निवडणूक ही महाडिक घराण्यासाठी महत्त्वाची संधी मानली जात होती. कार्यकर्त्यांनी मोठ्या प्रमाणावर तयारी केली होती. विविध भागांत संपर्क अभियान राबविण्यात आले. उमेदवारी निश्चित झाल्याच्या चर्चा देखील जोरात होत्या. मात्र अंतिम टप्प्यात परिस्थिती बदलली आणि अपेक्षित राजकीय संधी हातातून निसटली.
तथापि, या प्रवासात महाडिक घराण्याने कधीही माघार घेतलेली नाही. पराभव किंवा अपयश आले तरी जनसंपर्क आणि संघटन मजबूत ठेवण्यावर भर देण्यात आला. अनेक निवडणुकांमध्ये जोरदार लढत देत त्यांनी आपली ताकद सिद्ध केली आहे. काही निवडणुकांमधील त्यांच्या कामगिरीची चर्चा राज्यभर झाली आणि त्यांच्या राजकीय क्षमतेची दखलही घेण्यात आली.
आजही सांगली आणि परिसरातील अनेक कार्यकर्ते, समर्थक आणि राजकीय निरीक्षक एकाच प्रश्नाचे उत्तर शोधत आहेत — महाडिकांच्या नशिबात आमदारकी आहे का? की त्यांना पुन्हा एकदा राजकीय हुलकावणी मिळणार? आगामी निवडणुकांमध्ये त्यांना संधी मिळणार की नाही, हे काळच ठरवेल. मात्र महाडिक घराण्याबद्दलची उत्सुकता आणि अपेक्षा आजही कायम असल्याचे चित्र दिसून येते.
