कु. जिजा अश्विनी सागर पाटील. वय अवघं तीन वर्ष. या चिमुकलीने तिच्या वयाचा विचार करता कर्नाळ हा गिरीदुर्ग (किल्ला) कोणाच्याही मदतीशिवाय 1 तास 54 मिनींटात चढून गेली आहे. वयाच्या मानाने तिचा हा पराक्रम अचंबित करणारा व मनात ऊर्मी निर्माण करणारा आहे.

मुलांचे भविष्य घडविण्याची जबाबदारी प्रामुख्याने आई, वडील, ज्ञानादान करणारे शिक्षकांची आहे. त्यांच्या जडणघडणीत समाजाचे, परिसराचे व वातावरणाचाही प्रभाव पडतो. विज्ञान, तंत्रज्ञानाच्या युगात इतिहास विस्मृतीत जातो काय अशी शंका येते असताना धकाधकीच्या संघर्षमय जीवनाची लढाई लढण्यात आई, वडील मुलांसाठी दिशादर्शक आहे. बालमनावर संस्कार कशा पद्धतीने करावेत. त्यांचे वाढदिवस कशा पद्धतीने संस्मरणीय राहतील याचे उत्तम उदाहरण पाटील कुटुंबीयांनी घालून दिले आहे.

मूळचे शिराळा तालुक्यातील शिराळा खुर्दचे हे पाटील कुटुंबिय. सागर विश्वास पाटील मुंबई पोलिस दलात नोकरीस असल्याने मुंबईतच वास्तव्यास आहेत. त्यांची तीन वर्षांची जीजा ही मुलगी. तिच्या पहिल्या वाढदिवस साजरा करण्याची वेळ जवळ येताच हा क्षण संस्मरणीय राहीला पाहिजे, या हेतूने किल्ल्यावर जाऊन वाढदिवस साजरा करण्याचा त्यांनी निर्णय घेतला. पहिला वाढदिवस स्वराज्यांची राजधानी असणाऱ्या रायगडावर तर, दुसरा छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांचा जन्मठिकाण असलेल्या शिवनेरी किल्ल्यावर व तीसरा वाढदिवस वसईच्या किल्ल्यावर वाढदिवस साजरा केले आहे.

तीन वर्षांच्या चिमुकली जिजा स्वतः एखादा किल्ला चढून जाईल का ? हा विचार त्यांच्या मनात आला. या परीक्षेसाठी 22 फेब्रुवारी 2025 रोजी त्यांनी 1 हजार 440 फूट उंच असणाऱ्या कर्नाळा किल्ल्याची निवड केली. जिजाला घेऊन आई अश्विनी व वडील विश्वास यांनी किल्ला चढण्यास सुरुवात केली. 1 तास 54 मिनिटाच्या कालावधीत किल्ल्यावर पोहोचली. पांडूचा बुरूज (बेसाल्ट खांब) जवळ तिने भगवा ध्वज फडकवला. जिजाचे वय व आई-वडिलांकडून मिळालेली प्रेरणा विचारात घेता तिने केलेला हा भीम पराक्रमच आहे.

किल्ल्याचा इतिहास : कर्नाळा किल्ला रायगड जिल्ह्यातील पनवेल तालुक्यात येतो. कर्नाळा पक्षी अभयारण्यात आहे. कर्नाळा किल्ल्याचा सुळका विशेष लक्षवेधी आहे. हा सुळका अंगठ्यासारखा दिसतो. किल्ल्याची तटबंदी ढासळलेल्या अवस्थेत आहे. किल्ल्यावर प्रवेश केल्यावर एक मोठा वाडा आहे. तो सुस्थितीत नाही. कर्नाळा किल्ल्यावर करणाई देवीचे मंदिर, तटबंदी, जुने बांधकाम व थंड पाण्याच्या टाक्या आहेत. देवगिरी यादव (1248–1318) आणि तुघलक शासक (1318–1347) यांच्याअंतर्गत किल्ला 1400 पूर्वी बांधला गेला असण्याची शक्यता आहे. कर्नाळा त्यांच्या संबंधित साम्राज्यांच्या उत्तर कोकण जिल्ह्यांची राजधानी होती. 1670 मध्ये शिवाजी महाराजांनी मुघलांकडून तो जिंकला.

Jija Ashwini Sagar Patil, a 3-year-old girl, achieved an astonishing feat by climbing the Karnala Fort (Giridurg) without any assistance in just 1 hour and 54 minutes. Her accomplishment, considering her young age, is both inspiring and remarkable.

A child’s development is primarily influenced by parents, teachers, and the environment. In the fast-paced world of science and technology, history often fades into oblivion. However, parents like Jija’s have taken an extraordinary approach to instill values and courage in their child.

Originally from Shirala Khurd in Shirala Taluka, Jija’s family resides in Mumbai, where her father, Sagar Vishwas Patil, serves in the Mumbai Police Department. When Jija’s first birthday approached, her parents wanted to celebrate it in a memorable way. They decided to mark the occasion on a fort, a tradition they have continued every year.

• First Birthday – Celebrated at Raigad, the capital of Swarajya.
• Second Birthday – Celebrated at Shivneri Fort, the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
• Third Birthday – Celebrated at Vasai Fort.

Inspired by these celebrations, the parents wondered if their daughter could climb a fort on her own. To test this, they chose Karnala Fort, which stands at 1,440 feet, on February 22, 2025.

Jija, along with her parents, began the climb. Without any external help, she reached the fort’s top in 1 hour and 54 minutes, finally hoisting the saffron flag near Pandu’s Bastion (a basalt pillar). Considering her young age and the motivation she received from her parents, this achievement is nothing short of extraordinary.

Historical Significance of Karnala Fort

Karnala Fort is located in the Panvel Taluka of Raigad district within the Karnala Bird Sanctuary. The fort’s pinnacle is its most distinctive feature, resembling a thumb. The fort’s fortifications are mostly in ruins, but remnants of old structures, a large courtyard, and water reservoirs can still be seen.

The Karnai Devi Temple, fort walls, and old architecture add to its historical charm. The fort is believed to have been built before 1400, during the rule of the Devagiri Yadavas (1248–1318) and the Tughlaq dynasty (1318–1347). Karnala served as the capital of the northern Konkan region under these empires.

In 1670, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj conquered the fort from the Mughals, marking an important milestone in Maratha history.

Jija’s incredible achievement at such a young age stands as a testament to the courage and determination that has long defined Maharashtra’s spirit.
